Field Schools and Scheduled Excavations in Canada

Archaeological sites are excavated every year throughout Canada. Here's a sample.

Field schools listed below with dates older than the current year may indicate an ongoing project that has not yet established dates for this season.
AN3000ON (Ontario, Canada)
May 12-June 20, 2008. Trent University. Located on the edge of the Canadian Shield the site contains numerous small clusters of artifacts believed to represent repeated aggregations of temporary camps used by single families or special groups over a 12,500-year span.
Bella Coola Valley (British Columbia, Canada)
July 5 - August 27, 2004. University of Northern British Columbia and Nuxalk Nation. This is a 15 credit (full term) field school that integrates archaeological and traditional knowledge.
Crepeele Site (Manitoba, Canada)
TBA 2009. Brandon University. The Crepeele site is a multicomponent site with a significant Late Woodland component located in southwestern Manitoba
Fish Creek Provincial Park (Calgary, Canada)
15 May–30 June, 2006. University of Calgary. During the term, students will work at a variety of local sites learning the theory and practice of archaeological field research. performing the survey, excavation, and recording tasks of archaeological field research.
Louisbourg, Nova Scotia
August 11-22, 2008 (two sessions). Louisbourg Public Archaeology Program. Originally, Louisbourg was a large French settlement founded in 1713, fortified in the 1730s, besieged twice by New Englanders and the British, and finally demolished and abandoned by the British in the 1760s.
